Description

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION – Photoluminescent decorative paint for interiors

During the day, LuminoKrom® white offers a bright, clean, and perfectly uniform finish. Neutral and timeless, it blends naturally into all types of interiors: living spaces, bedrooms, offices, reception areas, and cultural venues, serving as both a decorative surface and an architectural backdrop. When the lights go out, the painted surface reveals a soft, even green luminescence that can be seen for up to 6 hours indoors. This gradual transition between day and night transforms the wall into an atmospheric element, bringing depth and sensitivity to the space without the need for artificial lighting.

This evolving interpretation, understated and minimalist by day, expressive and immersive by night, allows for the exploration of new decorative styles. White then becomes a creative medium in its own right, capable of magnifying volumes, patterns, or entire surfaces.

APPLICATION

TIPS FOR EFFECTIVE WATER-BASED PAINT APPLICATION

LuminoKrom® aqueous photoluminescent paint is easy to apply, following the same principles as conventional interior wall paint. A few best practices are all it takes to achieve a uniform finish and optimal luminescence.

Before application, the wall must be clean, dry, and in good condition. It is important to remove all traces of dust, grease, or moisture. On new surfaces, such as drywall or recently applied plaster, it is advisable to wait about a month to ensure that the surface is completely stable.

If the wall is not already white, applying a white undercoat is strongly recommended. This step plays a key role in photoluminescent performance: it promotes paint recharge and provides more visible and longer-lasting luminescence in the dark.

LuminoKrom® aqueous photoluminescent paint is then applied in two even coats, using a roller or brush, just like conventional interior decorative paint. Ready to use, it requires no dilution or special preparation, offering ease of application that is appreciated by professionals and homeowners alike.

Steps for applying white water-based paint for design

  • Prepare the surface: Start by thoroughly cleaning the wall with clean water or a suitable cleaning product. The surface must be clean, dry, and free of any marks before application.
  • Protect adjacent areas: Mark out the areas to be painted using masking tape or stencils to achieve a precise result and clean finishes.

  • Apply a white base coat if necessary: If the wall is not already white, apply an even coat of white paint. This light base coat will optimize light reflection and improve photoluminescent performance.

  • Allow the base coat to dry: Allow the base coat to dry according to the manufacturer's recommendations, usually about two hours.

  • Mix the photoluminescent paint: Before use, open the LuminoKrom® can and mix the paint thoroughly to obtain a smooth texture ready for application.

  • Apply the first coat: Apply a first coat of photoluminescent paint evenly with a short-bristle roller or suitable brush, ensuring that the product is evenly distributed.

  • Intermediate drying time: Allow the first coat to dry for approximately two hours before applying the next coat.

  • Apply the second coat: Apply a second coat to achieve a uniform finish and optimal luminescence.

  • Final drying: Allow the surface to dry for 24 hours before use. During this time, avoid rubbing or contact in order to preserve the quality of the result.

Why choose paint with very low VOC content?

A paint with very low VOC content contributes to improved indoor comfort, both during application and on a daily basis. It limits odors, preserves air quality, and is ideal for occupied spaces such as homes, offices, or public areas. It is a healthier and more responsible choice for users and indoor environments alike.

Is the application process similar to that of conventional wall paint?

Yes. LuminoKrom® decorative photoluminescent paint is applied in the same way as conventional interior paint: two coats, using a roller or brush. It is ready to use and requires no dilution or special equipment.

Is it essential to apply a white undercoat?

The use of a white undercoat is strongly recommended in order to achieve optimal luminescence. This light base promotes light recharge and improves light output in the dark. If the wall is already white, light-colored, and in perfect condition, an additional undercoat is not necessary.

How much paint do I need for my project?

For two coats, the average coverage is approximately 900 g/m². As a guide, this represents:
approximately 5 m² covered with a 5 kg can
approximately 15 m² with a 15 kg can.

Coverage may vary slightly depending on the porosity of the surface and the application conditions.

How does the paint become luminous after application?

Photoluminescent paint naturally recharges when exposed to ambient light, whether natural or artificial. Once the room is plunged into darkness, it gradually releases this energy in the form of visible light, creating a soft and evolving atmosphere.

Does the paint recharge with LED lighting?

Yes. LuminoKrom® photoluminescent paint is compatible with LED lighting, which allows for effective recharging, just like natural light or other indoor light sources.
