Description

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION – Photoluminescent decorative paint for interiors

During the day, the LuminoKrom® Greige shade brings discreet, contemporary elegance to interior spaces. Halfway between gray and beige, this subtle shade creates a sober, uniform, and perfectly balanced look. It blends naturally into offices, professional spaces, living rooms, or reception areas seeking a refined and timeless atmosphere. More nuanced than traditional white, the color grège acts as a structuring architectural backdrop, ideal for interior design projects with a minimalist aesthetic.

At nightfall, the wall surface reveals a soft, steady green glow that is visible for up to 6 hours indoors. This gradual transition between light and darkness transforms the wall into a discreet ambient feature, adding depth and subtlety without the need for artificial lighting.

This evolving look—understated and sophisticated by day, immersive and delicate by night—opens up new possibilities in interior design. The greige hue becomes a minimalist canvas, capable of highlighting volumes, lines, and textures while maintaining a calm and controlled aesthetic at any time of day.

APPLICATION

TIPS FOR EFFECTIVE WATER-BASED PAINT APPLICATION

LuminoKrom® Grège water-based photoluminescent paint is applied in the same way as conventional interior wall paint. By following a few simple steps, you will achieve a uniform, elegant finish and optimal light performance.

The surface must be clean, dry, and sound. On a new wall (drywall or recently plastered), a waiting period of approximately one month is recommended to ensure perfect stability.

To optimize the photoluminescent effect, applying a white undercoat is recommended if the wall is not already light in color. This base improves light recharge and restitution in the dark.

The paint is then applied in two coats, using a roller or brush. Ready to use, it requires no dilution or specific preparation. Its water-based acrylic formula and comfortable open time ensure easy and controlled application.

Steps for applying greige water-based paint for design

  • Prepare the wall: Clean the surface to be painted thoroughly with clean water or a suitable cleaner. The surface must be perfectly clean, dry, and sound before application.

  • Define the areas to be painted: Protect neighboring surfaces with masking tape or stencils to achieve clean edges and a neat finish.

  • Create a light base if necessary: If the wall is not already light in color, apply a uniform coat of white paint. This step improves light recharge and optimizes photoluminescent performance.

  • Allow the undercoat to dry: Follow the drying time indicated by the undercoat manufacturer, which is usually around two hours.

  • Prepare the LuminoKrom® paint: Before application, mix the photoluminescent paint thoroughly in its container to obtain a homogeneous consistency.

  • Apply the first coat: Apply a first coat of paint evenly with a short-bristle roller or brush, ensuring good coverage over the entire surface.

  • Intermediate drying time: Allow the first coat to dry for about two hours before continuing.

  • Apply the second coat: Apply a second coat to even out the finish and ensure optimal luminescence.

  • Final drying: Allow the painted surface to dry for 24 hours before use. During this time, avoid contact and friction to preserve the quality of the finish.

ADVANTAGES OF PHOTOLUMINESCENT WATER-BASED PAINT FOR INDOOR DESIGN

A decorative photoluminescent paint combines an elegant and controlled appearance in daylight with a luminous emission that is visible in the dark, without the need for an electrical power supply. Designed for indoor environments, it differs from purely technical paints in its aesthetic and architectural purpose.

With a contemporary decorative approach, it fits into design, wall art, and interior design projects where balance of volumes, consistency of colors, and visual experience play a central role. Color thus becomes a structuring element, capable of evolving between natural light and nighttime ambiance.

Why choose a paint with very low VOC emissions?

Choosing a paint with very low VOC (volatile organic compound) content helps preserve indoor air quality and improves application comfort. It limits fumes and reduces odors, making it more pleasant to use on a daily basis. This formulation is particularly suitable for occupied spaces—homes, offices, or public buildings—and meets the current requirements of contemporary indoor environments.

Is the application similar to that of a traditional wall paint?

Yes. LuminoKrom® Grège decorative photoluminescent paint is applied like traditional interior wall paint: two coats, applied with a roller or brush, are sufficient to achieve a uniform finish. Ready to use, it requires no dilution or special equipment.

Is the white undercoat essential?

Applying a white undercoat is recommended in order to optimize photoluminescent performance. This clear base promotes light recharge and improves light output in the dark. If the substrate is already clear, uniform, and in perfect condition, an additional undercoat may not be necessary.

How much paint should I plan for my project?

For a recommended two-coat application, average coverage is approximately 900 g/m².
As a guide, this corresponds to:
approximately 5 m² covered with a 5 kg container,
approximately 15 m² with a 15 kg container.
These values may vary depending on the porosity of the substrate and the application conditions.

How does paint become luminous once applied?

Photoluminescent paint recharges when exposed to ambient light, whether natural or artificial. Once the room is plunged into darkness, it gradually releases the accumulated energy in the form of visible light, creating a subtle and evolving atmosphere.

Does the paint recharge with LED lighting?

Yes. LuminoKrom® Grège photoluminescent paint recharges effectively under LED lighting, just as it does under natural light or any other indoor light source.
