LuminoKrom® transforms La Vélodyssée in the Bay of Arcachon into an illuminated cycle path

Piste cyclable arcachon nuit

The Vélodyssée cycle path in the northern Arcachon Basin is to be equipped with LuminoKrom® photoluminescent paint, making the route luminous at night. The project, led by the Communauté d'agglomération du Bassin d'Arcachon nord, will cover 35 kilometers and will be carried out in two phases: 10 km between Andernos-les-Bains and Lanton in June 2024, and a further 25 km from September 2024 to June 2025. The initiative aims to improve safety and comfort for cyclists, especially in unlit areas, while also being environmentally friendly.

An article in Bouger à Bordeaux describes the application of LuminoKrom® photoluminescent paint on the Vélodyssée, along the Bay of Arcachon. The project aims to improve night-time safety on this popular cycle route, by giving cyclists better visibility after dark, without the need for electric lighting. LuminoKrom®, which captures daylight and releases it at night, makes cycling safer and more pleasant, while reducing the environmental impact of traditional lighting.

This initiative is part of a drive to promote soft, sustainable mobility, while enhancing safety for users. In this way, the Arcachon Basin light trail becomes an inspiring example for other local authorities wishing to adopt ecological solutions for their infrastructures. With LuminoKrom®, French innovation in safety and energy transition is at the service of cyclists and pedestrians.
